Thurs., Sept. 16 -- A flooded gas station in Mobile, Ala. Hurricane Ivan made landfall east of the Alabama-Florida state line, sparing the city from the brunt of the storm.

Thurs., Sept. 16 -- Cecelia Shaw makes her way toward a demolished motor home in Parker, Fla., to check on the welfare of her friend and animals that were still inside. Parker, a suburb of Panama City, was hit by a tornado late Wednesday afternoon.

Thurs., Sept. 16: Waves from Hurricane Ivan wash away a quarter-mile section of east-bound I-10 bridge over Escambia Bay in Pensacola, Fla. Part of the cement was pushed up on the side of the bridge and part of it was in the water. The west-bound section was damaged, but still standing.
