Comcast High speed Internet
2/17/06 entry
Left voice mail with business internet group requesting pricing/cap information. Nothing new to report.
I didn't think this was going to be a media event, last time I b*tched about this, I got like 2 e-mails and a couple replies on broadband forums. This time there are a ton of replies and 19 e-mails. If you are dowloading 300GB or less you have nothing to worry about, I drifted over 600GB last month thats what put me on the radar.
Got a number of people
asking questions in e-mail and in this forum.

Greetings everyone!
I would like to THANK everyone that responded to my topic. The information was
helpful.
Then I would like to Apologise to Comcast and the people on the thread that I
may have offended with my ranting.
Last week was a bad week (I know, no excuses), but the call in the late
afternoon from Comcast was the last straw.
Looking over the posts here, I was able to see, that there is no way in H--- I
had been downloading 600GB in a month,
I ASSUMED that there was no change in the activity here, with the number of
computers and all the crap that goes on, but looking at what I know I did in Jan
coupled with what posters here said the other stuff I listed was, there was
about 300GB not accounted for.
Well, I found it. One of the kids (14) got a userid/pwd from his friend to a
USENET service. The program used was called newsbin. They installed it over the
Christmas holiday. 375GB was what was listed as downloaded.
Most of it was freaken cartoons from overseas. Apparently to make matters worse
when there was a corrupted archive, they re-downloaded stuff.
I gotta tell ya, this little program uses the connection to the fullest. I fired
up a download and it stood steady at 6Mbps.
Instead of BASHING Comcast, I should be praising them for having a great
network. No time did anything in here lagged or anything.
I just thank God they took an interest in Kira and Hiem and not some of that
other wonderful stuff that ends up on USENET.
